“Okay
then, I guess that’s it. Jack, you will be going to the Academy. Let’s go talk
to Mr. Saunders about it.” Jack’s parents look very proud that Jack is trying
to be outgoing, yet the gleam of sadness that their child is aging is showing
in their eyes.
Heading down stairs
Jack breathes a sigh of relief. “Now I
don’t have to worry about what would happen if I didn’t sign up.”
“Alright Andrew, we have decided along with Jack that he will go this
year. I will really miss him, but this is too good an opportunity to pass up. I
am counting on you to look after my baby.” Jack’s mom says with that mother
bear look all good moms possess.
“Of course, he will
be taken care of. You will have nothing to worry of. I will personally escort
him to the school and I am the boys dorm supervisor so I will be able to keep a
pretty constant eye on him. Now, if you can just sign these forms…” Pulling out
a stack of pastel papers Mr. Saunders guides Jack’s parents through many
different forms. Insurance, dietary restrictions, allergies, anything and
everything that they could possibly worry about was covered in them.
“Aaaaand done,
you are all set. I will be back in a week and a half to pick Jack up to escort
him to the Academy. I think you have made the right choice here. I look forward
to meeting you again. Thank you again for the meal it was very good.” Mr. Saunders
takes back his paper work, after affirming that everything is in order he heads
to the door.
“Wait,
I’ll walk you out.” Jack quickly gets up to say goodbye to the man who has
changed the way his future heading. They walk out of the house and up to Mr.
Saunders car. The cricket and cicada calls fill the night air. Unlocking his
car Mr. Saunders pops open his trunk and motions for Jack to come over, a big
grin plastered on his face. Curious Jack heads over, wondering what could have
brought the look to his face.
